Our first Club Brew of 2025 went well. The Belgian Golden Strong is happily bubbling away. Bottling will take place sometime after Bluebonnet. We ended up with 3 batches of about 4 1/2 gallons each. We plan on bottling 12 competition bottles per batch. This beer will age well to enter in future competitions as a club. As the time comes closer, we will need some donated bottles and caps. We will use some of the club stock also and these items will not need to be returned.
Bluebonnet is approaching fast. The first bar workday went well. Next workday will be March 9th at 2 PM at SunnHaus. This will also be the March club meeting. On the workday we will be cleaning the beer lines, making sure all taps work properly, and making a list of final items we need for assembly of the bar.
We are still looking for keg commitments, and are close to having what we need. We need to bring all the kegs together for a sampling and will discuss that at the meeting on the ninth. So far, we have 6 to 8 people going so we should have plenty of people to handle the bar.
Our first club beer dinner is tentatively scheduled for Friday March 28th, location TBD.
Remember, entries for the first club competition of the year is the end of this month.
2025 Club Competitions
Comp 1 – Best Beer, 2 entries, due March 29-31
Comp 2 – Wort Challenge, 1 entry, will probably be with Plateau Brewing in San
Angelo, July 29 tentatively*
Comp 3 – Single Style (25A Belgian Blonde), 1 entry, November 1-3*
Comp 4 – Big Beer, 2 entries, December 7-8
* Single style and Wort Challenge may switch places depending on brewer.
